Rubber Duck

Andrei Codrescu regularly appears on NPR's All Things Considered. I think he might have a regular Monday gig now. He's a pretty funny guy. I got all excited the three times I heard him, when he was postscrpted as having an online journal called Exquisite Corpse. I thought they meant a diary journal, like this one. I thought "we" hit the big time. But they meant a magazine journal, as I discover, now that I am actually checking it out. That's another thing. Still, I'll look this over. It'll go into "Literature and Zines."

Frank Deford is my role model, though. Forget the sports; I don't care about the sports. I really like the way the guy writes, as though it were utterly effortless. He also has a feature on NPR, Wdnesdays on Morning Edition. Most of the time his commentaries have a sports theme, but occasionally not. They are almost always humorous and somewhat cynical. I am failing to describe well.

Bruno wants a rubber duck. Not a bath toy - a rubber duck is a fake rifle made entirely of rubber, and if I remember correctly, at least twice as heavy. It's for training purposes, hiking and running and such. Bruno wants boots, too. He wants lots of things he can't have, like playing paintball. I think that's why I am unhappy. I am denying my inner terrorist.

He wanted to do situps last night, too, but he was asleep by the time I was done with the internet. Heh.
