I failed to be awakened thoroughly by the landline and cell phone ringing. It wasn't until the barrage of banging on the front door that I got full consciousness. It was the Chrub, come to tell us that some horrible stuff was going down. He said planes hit the World Trade Center, and that one tower had collapsed, and that another plane hit the Pentagon.

I didn't have anything smarter to say than, "Holy fuck!"
