Ring of Night

There is, in Dungeons & Dragons lore, a ring so powerful, it can do anything, so I am told. It is called the Ring of Night. One evening, while guest hosting the game he regularly participates in, Captain Napalm wanted to create and bestow upon members of the party several magical items, including the Ring of Night, but the regular dungeon master flatly refused to let him (and probably rightfully so).

So Napalm did come up with some pretty good magical items, and among them was one ring called the Ring of Night, but it was not the same ring. This particular ring instantly put its bearer into a deep sleep.

I like this story so much because it fits so well with the atmosphere here at Condo Napalm. It's dark and comfortable, quiet and cozy. When I wake up, I hear his soft snoring and am lulled right back to sleep again. He slumbers so solidly and so well that it's nearly impossible for him to awaken without an alarm clock, regardless how much sleep he got. This effect has not spared me, either.

Today I got too much sleep, and I'm groggy and headachy. Days like this, I say that I fell prey to the Ring of Night.
