(Please ignore the above.
I am sending a copy to my journal and that's the thing that lets the CGI
know it's supposed to be a journal entry.) 1

*chuckle* I was winding
up for it. :-) Or winding down. I am soooooo tard[1]. My feets hurt and
I have pieces of houses flying all around in my brain.
Am soooo gonna love
this job! So much to learn, and the area of homebuilding is something I've
been interested in before, and learned quite a bit about, so it's easier
to ask intelligent questions about it. I already know about flashing and
crown molding and bullnose edging, and the frantic weeks between rough-in
and trim-out. I know what a punch-out guy is, and it has nothing to do
with boxing. I know the difference between mortar and grout, which even
some in the business don't know. :-)
So this is good and
fun, and WILD! So many options and choices and stuff! 17 models of home,
just to start with. So many floor plans to learn.
Maps! Maps! Maps! My
semi-cubicle is in part of the War Room in the basement, where there is
also another office and semi-cubicle. Maps surround, and even spill over
onto the ceiling. Gotta love that! And there's a puter aspect too. Tomorrow
I am installing MS Office (gak) on the newest round of puters, to include
mine. And more stuff.
The commute was not
painful today. I have NPR to keep me company! I get WHYY (Philadelphia)
almost all the way home. :-)
At the moment, I am
wrestling with whether I should identify the company in my journal or not.
This is not a new dilemma, but each time I encounter it, the decision must
be made afresh to suit the situation. These are somewhat conservative people
in a rather conservative industry, and maybe it's not as appropriate as
when I was in the beverage business.
Oh! Three things I took
with me to work today:
--silly picture of
scott h. and my boys from one of those photography booths
--picture of iKat,
Judy, Jeff, and me with the Beetle
--picture Brian sent
of a saint :-)
Feels comfy already.

1Refers to an
annotation used to make my journal update via email, but doesn't actually
appear IN my journal entry. It does, however appear in the email.
Confused yet?
I sent an email to [dw] and BCCd it to my journal. There's a key
you have to put in the email to get the journal to take it, so the key
shows in the email, but once the journal posts the entry, the key has been
taken out. Better now?
Prolly not going to do it this way anymore. |
