I am frustrated. And sometimes I am angry. But
mostly I am frustrated.
I HAVE NO PHONE SERVICE!
I HAVE NO INTERNET!
I HAVE NO LONG DISTANCE ACCOUNT!
PEOPLE, I AM BROKE!
Dammit, it is beginning to make me NUTS how people
throw a tantrum and fucking panic because they can't
reach me by phone, or by IMMEDIATE email, but if it is
SUCH a huge inconvenience for them, THEY CAN PAY MY
FUCKING BILLS! I am doing the best I can here.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr.
Look, I have a job now, hooray. I am working my
ass off. I am freelancing. There are a few people
ahead of the local phone company and US Sprint Inc. in
line for a piece of my ass, ok? My credit is a mess,
got it? Why do people keep thinking I am supposed to
swoop down and rescue them? If I could do that, don't
you think I'd be rescuing MYSELF too?! What the hell
happened to self-sufficiency? *I* don't expect
Superman, cape and all, to be leaning outside my
doorpost waiting for my beck and call. Just what the
hell is going on??!!
*sigh* Look, I got no problem with helping people.
I like to help. And God knows, people have helped
me. It feels good to add to that. I am grateful, and
like to show it in kind.
However. There are limitations to my power. And
one of those is that I have no phone. I am sorry, I
cannot page you from home. I am sorry, I cannot call
you from home. I am sorry, I cannot email you at
10:30 pm. And even if I did have a phone, I don't
spend every waking hour at home. What if I'm out
having a smoke, or taking a walk, or working on
somebody else's computer. I don't spend every waking
hour on the internet. Amazing, but true. I even have
sex on occasion. You can DAMN well bet I'm not online
then!
Instant gratification is NOT a guarantee when
dealing with me. I am not ABLE to guarantee it. Some
folks are gonna have to grow some patience or look for
help somewhere else.
End of rant. *huge sigh*
So, how are you?
