Bunk Beds

So, some weeks ago I signed up on the waiting list at the local consignment shop for a set of discount bunk beds. They came in yesterday, so I paid for them and picked them up and got them home.

And there were no instructions. None at all. This is not that big a problem, really, except that once all the screws, bolts, and dowels were all sorted out, there were four or five that were one-offs and didn't seem to match anything.

I counted up and compared holes to fasteners and got the thing about 90% figured out, but two of the upper guard rails and the ladder were just not working out right.

I got online to look around for the beds. They're Copacabana, also known as a "model 540" and made of wood, so I tried a wide variety search strings like:

copacabana "bunk bed"
540 "bunk bed"
wood "bunk bed" assembly

I found lots of clues about lots of types of bunk beds, some of which were generally helpful, but I never did find the exact same bed set, nor any instructions. The closest clue I could find was the Oslo Chunky Bed.

So I waited for Napalm to get up, so that I could milk him for ideas. He didn't get any more out of it than I did, though, so we wound up assembling it like the Oslo. We do have a couple pieces and some screws left over. Maybe there is an optional configuration that we didn't use or something, and that's why the spare pieces. I really don't know. It's stable and looks right, so I guess it's ok.

While I was looking around for clues, I found this wide array of furniture as well as
this gallery of bunk and loft options.

It's just amazing that you can have something like an entire apartment under your bed. You could live in a 6x6 square if you had to. Boggling. I also was charmed with this castle bed set.

On an unrelated note, as those who are on on LJ and in my sexual info filter know already, I have been getting more than just some lately. Fun times, fun times!

On another unrelated note, wlofie has been practicing the art of sushi making. I'm aroused now. Ok so maybe it IS related.

That's -no- instructions. Not Chinese instructions. I posited a hypothetical, and I think that confused the issue. I'd much rather have Chinese instructions with illustrations than no instructions at all. The latter is what we had.

Because I have comments and Napalm doesn't ... Heh.
