N-Tier software is quite difficult to debug
Sean speaking here—programmer of the software
behind Mimosa Wisdom. Debugging an N-tier software program is quite
challenging to say the least. The software I wrote for Spring allows her to
use either a webform or email to add entries to Mimosa Wisdom. Spring
usually uses the webform but today is exterimenting with adding entries via
email via a script she's debugging. Half the system works—the entries
are created in the staging area and the Master
List is updated, but the entries themselves are not moved from the
staging area to the website.
Very odd.
I've mad a few small changes (checking permissions) and
am in the process of testing. We shall see …
I'm going to have to remember that anything run via postfix (like the email submission program) sets the default umask to 077 (which basically means only create files viewable by the owner). Sigh.
And I would also like to apollogize for all the email notifications—I need to add a way to disable that via the email program.
